Our Mission:

The Social Ministry Team is committed to carrying out the mission of Christ the King Lutheran Church by providing care and assistance to those who are in need, physically and/or spiritually. The team offers opportunities to members of Christ the King to follow Biblical teachings about service to others by sharing time, money and talents in our congregation and community.

What we've done in May & June:

Marrina Kaun managed the May Focus Ministry-Minneapolis Crisis Nursery. A group from CTK toured the nursery and is scheduled to volunteer three times in the coming year for Cook for Kids. We still need volunteers for the July 24 event. If you interested in volunteering, please contact Marrina Kaun (reginak35@yahoo.com)

Joanne Zenz managed the June Focus Ministry- Meals on Wheels. Meals on Wheels is in need of a Co-Chair, please contact Joanne if you are able to help with this ministry (sznz@aol.com).

What's coming up:

July's Focus Ministry is Operation Minnesota Nice. The organization meets at the Tri-City Legion once each month to create care packages for “adopted” soldiers serving overseas. CTK Social Ministry will adopt a serviceperson beginning in July. There are several opportunities to become involved.

(1) Donate items for care packages. Suggested items include: packaged snacks, socks, hygiene items, reading material, writing material, games, etc. Please bring your donations to the table in the narthex. (2) Come to the July meeting to create the packages Thursday, July 8 @ 7pm. You can make a real difference in less than an hour.

(3) Make a monetary donation for Social Ministry to purchase care package items

There's still room if you want to volunteer for Cook for Kids through the Minneapolis Crisis Nursery on July 24. Work together with other CTK members to make a meal for and play with the children. This is a great opportunity to show your love for Christ through your love for the little ones and teenagers through grandparents can participate! September's Focus Ministry is Voices for Peace, focusing on domestic abuse awareness and prevention. Our current chair, Alison Caldwell is moving to Rochester, so we are looking for someone to lead this initiative. Thank you for your service Alison!
