Congregational Council Meeting Minutes—February 16, 2009
Members present: Pastor Paul, Pastor Shelley, Cheryl Olson (P), Dave Durham (T), Ann Bollmeier (S), Cindy Larson (PE), Kim Burfeind, John Foell, Greg Debelak, Scott Paulson, and Cyndi Lesher.
Members absent: Pastor Deb, Len Krumm, Allen Pofahl.
I. Cheryl Olson called the meeting to order at 7:01 PM.
II. Pastor Paul opened the meeting with prayer.
III. New members were officially welcomed: Cindy Larson, Ann Bollmeier, John Foell and Cyndi Lesher.
IV. We watched the first part of a video ìRediscovering the Book of Faithî for our Bible study.
V. Council Minutes: Cindy Larson moved to approve the minutes from the January 19, 2009 meeting. John Foell seconded. Motion carried.
VI. Treasurer’s report:
a. January’s total receipts $82,792
b. January’s total expenditures $82,137
Greg Debelak moved to accept the financial report. Scott Paulson seconded. Motion carried.
VII. Strategic Plan Development:
a. Pastor Paul stated that the annual meeting went well.
b. Sanctuary update: money should be available for Phase One of the remodel by summer. Funding for Phases 2 & 3 will be included in our fall of 2009 Capital Campaign. We will proceed with Phases 2 and 3 when funds are available.
c. Values and guiding principles: Cindy Larson and her committee compiled all the information collected at the Visioning Retreat that was held on January 17, 2009. It will be included in the final Strategic Plan. Ann Bollmeier moved to accept the report. Kim Burfeind seconded. Motion carried.
d. Communication Processes update: There was discussion as to how to bring the Strategic Plan to the congregation. Cindy Larson will update this at the next meeting.
e. Outcome report: postponed until the next meeting.
VIII. Announcements and Updates:
a. There is a SPAS (St. Paul Area Synod) Seminar on February 28, 2009. All are encouraged to attend.
b. The Worship and Music Committee approved purchasing a new projector and screen for the sanctuary. The old one is wearing out. There are enough memorial funds available for this purchase and the memorial committee approved using them.
c. One or two people, professionally trained, will be hired as sound and light operators for all three Sunday services. This should provide us with a higher sound quality on a consistent basis.
d. ASP staff interviews took place at CTK this past weekend. The ASP staff stated that they were treated exceptionally well.
e. Next Council meeting March 16, 2009
IX. Pastor Paul closed the meeting with prayer.
X. Ann Bollmeier moved to adjourn the meeting. Seconded by Cindy Larson. Motion carried. Meeting adjourned at 8:05 PM.
