Family Devotions for Christmas

In order to keep Christ in the center of our Christmas celebration it is suggested that each family take a few minutes for devotions before opening their gifts. The order of service printed below is offered as an option for your use. If the storm prevents you from attending worship, please go to our web page at ctknb.org and download the sermon and read that in addition to the worship items below.

Sing “Away in a Manger”

1. Away in a manger, no crib for his bed,

The little Lord Jesus lay down his sweet head;

The staffs in the sky looked down where he lay,

The little Lord Jesus asleep on the hay. 

2. The cattle are lowing, the baby awakes,

But little Lord Jesus no crying he makes.

I love you, Lord Jesus, look down from the sky

And stay by my cradle till morning is high. 

3. Be near me, Lord Jesus, I ask you to stay

close by me forever and love me, I pray.

Bless all the dear children in your tender care

And fit us for heaven to live with you there.

Prayer:

O God, we give you thanks for the gift of Jesus. Let the gifts we exchange with each other serve as a reminder of this wonderful gift of love you have given us. We are thankful that Jesus came into our world and live among us, for in Him we come to know you better. In Him we see the great love you gave us. In Him we discover the hope, joy and peace that you give us. Strengthen us and help us so we are able to share your gift of love with others. Amen.
